LA PALMOSILLA

The Casa de Misericordia of Pamplona published the official list of bull ranches that will participate in the Feria del Toro 2019.

This year in San Fermin we will be enjoying a new bull breeding ranch, or ganadería, which has never run before, known as Palmosilla.  These fighting bulls – toros bravos in Spanish –  originate from Tarifa, Cadiz and have been bred since 1996.  The bulls are a cross between the cows and bulls of Juan Pedro Domecq and Don Joaquin Nuñez del Cuvillo.  Every ganadería carries its own crest and colors. The Palmosilla badge is sky blue and red.

This new ganadería is standing in for the Fuente Ymbro ranch which will end a fourteen year period of participation in the San Fermin bull runs.

The other historic ganaderías will participate as usual, such as Jandilla , which won the Feria del Toro in 2018, the prestigious festival award for the fastest encierro (bull run).  Jandilla bulls on average have gored 1.7 people in every encierro.  In their eighteen bull runs, they have injured thirty people, which makes them the second most dangerous bull breed in the history of San Fermin.

For the second time in San Fermin we will also see the bulls from Puerto de San Lorenzo, the breeding ranch that made its debut last year. The ranch won the Carriquiri award, given to the best bull of the festivals, with one of its bulls named Cuba.

The classic ganaderías will also return this year, as they do every year: Miura, Victoriano del Río, Cebada Gago, José Escolar, and Nuñez del Cuvillo. The running of the bulls in San Fermin, we will also see the classic cattle ranches; Miura, Victoriano del Río, Cebada Gago, José Escolar, Nuñez del Cuvillo which are the standard ranches in the running of the bulls.
