The Basque Coast is phenomenally beautiful. Hiking along the St. James Coastal Route with the epic views and the green hills plunging into the sparkling blue sea is an unforgettable experience, both for the mind and the senses. From the colorful and quaint fishing town of Hondarribia to the elegant and aristocratic San Sebastian and then back into the misty rolling hills of the Basque Country to experience their traditions and culture, this trip is one fabulous experience after another. Imagine then relaxing at a luxury spa in the mountains. Soak your feet in salt springs, get a massage – or two – and drink a glass of sparkling wine.  Feel your entire being melt into bliss.

The Coastal Route of the St. James Way is one of the most beautiful parts of the famous trail, and it will inspire and replenish you.

Glasses of cava in hand, sitting in the warm sunshine, this is the most glamorous way to arrive to the famous and sophisticated beach town, San Sebastian.

Dine on spectacular fresh seafood at this portside restaurant in Pasajes, widely considered to be the best in the area.

We can dance the night away in one of the most vibrant and social towns in Spain. Delicious food, excellent wine, and endless fun.

Day 1: Along the majestic coast

Our Hiking the Basque Coast trip begins in Hondarribia, a beautiful and unusual little fishing town. From here we hike along a simply gorgeous path with views over the Atlantic, through pretty woods and past old stone churches. We descend from the hills into Pasajes, where we stop for a top-end seafood lunch right on the water. After that, we board the private antique sailboat and sail away to San Sebastian.

Docking in the famed La Concha Harbor, we have time for a swim or sunbathing on the deck. In the evening we head into town to sample the world-renowned gastronomy of the area. We dine on pintxos and great wines and keep on going to enjoy the bustling and fun nightlife. We stay at the luxury seaside hotel.

Day 2: From the Atlantic to Mountain Spa

In the morning we can swim or take a boat out to Santa Catalina, the little island in the harbor. We have breakfast at the outdoor café there and enjoy the sea and sun. Lunch is in San Sebastian and then we hike back along more gorgeous trails to Pasajes with a stop to visit the interesting and evocative Whaling Museum there. We transfer to a mountain spa for the night.

Day 3: A day in rural Navarra Basque lands

After blissing out on spa treatments, we have lunch in a quaint Basque village with all the charm and rustic, traditional feel of the area, thus ending three days of pure pleasure.
